  • Dec 19 (Fri), 5 pm, "Historic Wallace Church Nativity Walk" begins at Victory World Outreach Silver Valley, 215 4th St., Wallace. Then continues to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church & Wallace United Church, 4th & Cedar; special singing with Cataldo Mennonites. All are welcome!

  • Jan 9 (Fri), 5-8 pm, "ArtWalk" in downtown CdA. What a perfect time of year to browse 15+ galleries/shops! Watch artists at work, sample goodies. Click HERE for more info & the map. The event is held the 2nd Friday of each month.

  • Dec 16 (Tues), 4:30-6:30 pm, "Community Dinner" at Cup of Grace, 31848 N. 4th Ave., Spirit Lake. FREE dinner & all ages are welcome every Tuesday!

  • Dec 17 (Wed), 8-9:30 am, "Veterans Appreciation Breakfast" at Legends Park Assisted Living, 1820 N. Legends Pkwy, CdA. Each month veterans & their families are invited to enjoy a full breakfast - eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, coffee & juices - FREE of charge! Please RSVP to 208-699-6015. Offered every 3rd Wednesday of each month.

  • Dec 19 (Fri), 6 pm, "Kellogg's Silver Social" at American Lutheran Church Community Hall, 15 Mullan Ave. E, Kellogg. All are invited to the community potluck. Live music & dancing too!

  • Dec 25 (Thurs), 2-6 pm, "Community Christmas Meal" at True North Church, 10583 N. Gov't Way, Hayden. No one should spend Christmas alone, so gather w/others, laugh, & enjoy a delicious FREE meal along w/games & joyful fellowship. Familes, singles, seniors - all are welcome! Take a dish to share w/others, or simply go & be a guest.

  • COMPLIMENTARY WEEKLY CHURCH MEALS in Post Falls, CdA, Hayden & Osburn >

  • ​Jan 7 (Wed), 5-7 pm, "Steak Night for Veterans" at Wallace Elks Lodge #331, 419 Cedar Street. Veterans are invited to enjoy sizzling steaks, hearty sides & good company. All veterans eat FREE every 1st Wednesday of the month! Veterans also eat FREE on Burger Night every Friday, 5-7 pm. Also, Silver Valley Cares will be at a table w/meal vouchers, resources, & support for those struggling w/food supplies. 

  • Jan 8 (Fri), 4:30-6:30 pm, "Free Community Meal" provided by Bestowing the Basics & The Country Boy Cafe, 6160 E. Hwy 54, Athol. All are invited (event is not associated with need), so gather w/family & friends to connect & enjoy the delicious food & desserts. Complimentary meals will be provided thru March on the 2nd Friday.

In case of serious injury or illness, create advance directive documents such as "Durable Power of Attorney" & a Living Will. Gain understanding of healthcare decisions & share concerns w/other veterans. Provided by I CARE/U.S. Dept of Veterans Affairs. Register by calling 509-434-7983.   • Dec 17 (Wed), 6-7 pm, "Avalanche Awareness Tour" at Uncorked with Friends, 9443 N. Gov't Way, Hayden. Learn about the destructive power of avalanches, understand when/why they happen, & how to have fun in the mountains while being cautiously aware of snow danger. No registration is needed; all are welcome.

  • Jan 17 (Sat), 4:30-5:30 pm, "Warning Signs for Caretakers" at Athol Library, 32575 N. 5th Avenue. Memory Caretakers Distinctive Memory Care hosts a class for caretakers, discussing warning signs & behaviors of dementia, along with sustaining healthy minds/bodies. Also: Jan 17, 4:30-5:30 pm at Athol Library. 

  • Jan 27 (Tues), 4-6 pm, "Stop the Bleed Training" for all ages at CdA Library, presented by Medical Reserve Corps of North Idaho & Panhandle Health District. Learn how to save lives by knowing how to stop severe bleeding w/techniques such as pressure, packing & applying a tourniquet. Register HERE.

  • Dec 18 (Thurs), 5-6 pm, "Intro to Beekeeping" at St. Maries Library. Hank Ausmus will inform participants about basic equipment, honeybee biology, techniques to improve hive quality, disease/mite prevention, honey production & over-wintering. More info - 208-416-1003. Also: Jan 8 & 22. 

  • Dec 20 (Sat), 11 am-2 pm, "Happy Jolabokaflod" at Kellogg Library. Celebrate Iceland's tradition of gifting books; then reading them with others on Christmas Eve. FREE books will be available for all ages (while supplies last)! Also: Dec 22 & 23, 11 am-5 pm. 

  • Dec 20 (Sat), 11 am, "Saturday With the Symphony" at CdA Library. Enjoy a special holiday sing-along geared to ages 3+ as part of a monthly music education program provided by Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra. December's event will feature Lilac Brass & a book reading.

  • Dec 20 (Sat), 12:30-2 pm, "Stitching Magic, Needle Art Club" at Athol Library. For ages 18+, spend some time w/other fiber arts crafters of all skills. Share a project, help others, or attend as a beginner to learn crocheting, punch needle or embroidery. Materials will be provided for newbies.

  • Dec 22 (Mon), 5:30 pm, "Home Alone: 35th Anniversary Movie Showing" at Hayden Library. FREE!

  • Dec 23 (Tues), 1 pm, "The Grinch Movie & Party" at Athol Library. All ages are welcome to make "Grinch" inspired crafts before snacks & movie. Settle in w/pillows & blankets for this 2018 movie.

  • Dec 30 (Tues), 10 am, "Kids Movie at the Library: Snow Buddies" at CdA Library. Gather in the Community Room for popcorn & a seasonal G-rated Disney movie.

  • Dec 31 (Wed), 11 am, "Rock Around the Clock for Noon Years Eve" at Athol, Hayden & Pinehurst Libraries for ages 3-8. Activities include decorating records, a bowling alley, soda jerk station & musical photo booth, 50s-inspired sock hop & balloon drop.

  • Jan 2 (Fri), 5-7 pm, "Binglo" at Hayden Library for all ages. A special event under the neon glow of black lights - Bingo, pizza, music & prizes.

  • Jan 7 (Wed), 5 pm, "Film Night with MONI: Train Dreams" at CdA Library. A FREE special screening of a film adapation of Denis Johnson's novella set in the early 20th century American West. Presented by Museum of North Idaho, the film explores themes of isolation, transformation & changes brought by modernization. Refreshments too. Rated PG-13 (Note: some material may not be appropriate for children under 13).

  • Jan 14 (Wed), noon-3 pm, "IDOL Job Fair" at CdA Library. Employers will be on-site offering full & part time, seasonal, entry-level & skilled trade positions. Take resume & prepare to be hired.

  • Jan 15 (Thurs), 11 am, "Kindergarten Bootcamp" at Spirit Lake Library for ages 4-5 & their parents or care-providers. Hands-on experiences are based on developmental stages is the focus. Questions? Call 208-772-5612. Also: Jan 28, 10:30 am in Rathdrum.

  • Jan 20 (Tues), noon-1 pm, "Herbal Allies: Homemade Natural Remedies" for ages 13+ at CdA Library. Local naturopathic medical doctor Casey Carr will explain how gardens can grow herbs to create homemade remedies, from tea blends to elixirs.

  • Jan 31 (Sat), 1-3 pm, "11th Annual Seed Swap" at CdA Library. Take extra seeds (home-saved or purchased) to share, & learn about seed-saving from regional experts & which varieites are well-adapted for North Idaho growing conditions. No seeds to share? That's OK too.

  • Dec 17 (Wed), 4:30-8:30 pm, "Mobile Santa Food Drive" by CdA Fire Department in various CdA neighborhoods collecting food & cash donations for the local food bank. Use the Santa Tracker HERE to see schedule of locations.

  • Dec 19 (Fri), 4:30-7 pm, & Dec 20 (Sat), 4-8 pm, "Candy Cane Run" by Hauser Lake Fire Protection District. Listen for sirens throughout Hauser communities as fire trucks escort Santa & Mrs. Claus to various stops along the way to collect canned food donations for the Hauser Lake Food Pantry.
