"Playland Pier Carousel"

Not quite FREE, but well worth $2 to ride the original Playland Pier Carousel (aka Coeur d'Alene Carousel). Children under 42" tall ride with an adult (one token for both). Weight limits apply.

Hand-carved by the Herschell-Spillman Engineering Co. in New York (1922), the carousel has 20 ponies & 2 chariots. Click HERE for carousel history.

Families will enjoy "Storywalk" in McEuen Park, downtown CdA. Read "Sustain Coeur d'Alene" along the path near the library/playground. Local artist Lydia Howard wrote & illustrated the book as her LCHS senior project.

The Monarch Train makes a FREE community book exchange possible quarterly. Kids take a new or used book to trade in a barn setting. (Animals love to be read to, even the world's largest rodent, the capybara - pictured above).

The goal is to encourage an early love of reading. All ages are welcome! Everyone leaves with a book, even if unable to take one to trade.
